It's time for a new extension of JoomGallery:
The small plugin called 'JoomAutoCat' automatically creates a new category in JoomGallery whenever a new user is registered in Joomla! and assigns this user to the category.
Thereyby the category is named like the username of its owner. Update: With the BETA 2 of the plugin, it is possible to automatically create categories for users who are already registered, too.
In the plugin manager, you can specify a parent category in which the categories will be created. Additionally you may choose the access level of the new categories and decide whether they shall be published from the start. You can download the plugin here and install it with the Joomla installer on your site, but please don't forget to activate it in the plugin manager.

This bugfix release relates to the correction of errors which have been reported e.g. in the forums. A small feature has been added too.
- DHTML view didn't work when the image description contained an apostrophe (')
- updated JAVA Applet (4.4.0) , problems in uploading with IE7 should be solved now. Thank you to the developers of the JAVA applet.
- further corrections in the upload functions for a better cooperation with activated FTP-Layer in Joomla!
- double entries in CSS removed
- in category view the image description will be shortened now automatically to 30 chars

As suggested by the title, we recently decided to discontinue support for PonyGallery ML in the near future. Since PonyGallery ML first began in Oktober 2005 more than 50 versions of it have been released, the last one being version 2.5.1, on Feb. 28, 2008, over a year ago. PonyGallery ML was (and is) one of the most successful gallery extensions for Joomla! 1.0.x. It has been downloaded a few hundred thousand times over the years. Since the beginning the project enjoyed (and continues to enjoy, as we hope) a very loyal user community which was essential for its success. Thanks again!

In this second Bugfix-Release errors are fixed but also new features realized.
The assignment of wrong permissions to uploaded picture files in installations without activated FTP-Layer was the biggest bug. The pictures had insufficient rights so that they were not displayed. A HTTP code 403 (Permission denied) was shown too. We hope that this bug is corrected now.
Amongst other fixes are related to:
- not translated categories in JoomFish
- hacking of the voting with invalid values was possible
- search of words with special characters was not possible
- invalid database query at the pagination in the category-view because of a false startpage value
More details you can find in the changelog.php.
The afterwards resizing of detail pictures and thumbnails is possible now. The detail pictures can only be resized if the original pictures exist. You can find the new button 'Recreate' in the toollbar of the Picture Manager. Before recreating you can change the following parameters in the Configuration Manager - General Settings -> Image Processing -> Max Width and Height
- General Settings -> Image Processing -> Thumbnail Width and -> Thumbnail Height
to your required values. Then choose the pictures in the picture manager and click on 'Recreate'
The display of subcategories in the gallery view is now provided by a javascript based (DTree) code. Many thanks to ‘erftralle’ who implemented this code.
