As suggested by the title, we recently decided to discontinue support for PonyGallery ML in the near future.

Since PonyGallery ML first began in Oktober 2005 more than 50 versions of it have been released, the last one being version 2.5.1, on Feb. 28, 2008, over a year ago.

PonyGallery ML was (and is) one of the most successful gallery extensions for Joomla! 1.0.x. It has been downloaded a few hundred thousand times over the years. Since the beginning the project enjoyed (and continues to enjoy, as we hope) a very loyal user community which was essential for its success. Thanks again!

With the advent of Joomla! 1.5.x we decided to develop JoomGallery 1.0, a new gallery script based on PonyGallery ML, capable of running both under Joomla 1.0.x  and Joomla! 1.5 Legacy Mode. This decision was made mainly with the community in mind, as many working sites still ran Joomla 1.0.x  at the time. Our intention had been to make migration to Joomla! 1.5 as smooth and flexible as possible for our users, as far as their image galleries were concerned. We wanted them not to have to worry about PonyGallery ML when planning their move to Joomla! 1.5.x.

This intermediate step between a 1.0.x version and a native 1.5.x version brought us a lot of addtional work, but we felt that we owed it to our loyal users. At the peak of this process, we were supporting 3 different versions of our gallery component (PonyGallery ML, JoomGallery 1.0 Legacy and JoomaGallery 1.5 Native), which inevitably slowed down the development of new features quite a bit.

We now plan to fully dedicate our time to JoomGallery 1.5. x and speed up its development. The future fully belongs to Joomla 1.5. x. (Note that the Joomla! core team will discontinue Joomla! 1.0. x support in July 2009)

Discontinuing support for PonyGallery ML does not mean that we won't answer questions in its regard. However, the files will be removed from the download section, and the PonyGallery ML area in the forum will be significantly reduced. We will also upgrade our own german website to Joomla! 1.5. x and remove references to the PonyGallery ML project.

Once more, we'd like to thank all who supported PonyGallery ML over the past years.
It was a great time with the little pony, but now its time for it to retire and enjoy its pastures.
